🇰🇷 What Nobody Tells You Before Your First Korean Jjimjilbang (2026)

A Korean friend casually says "let's go to a jjimjilbang this weekend," and you nod along — then you google it later and get two totally different sets of photos. One shows people in identical shorts and t-shirts sleeping in a giant heated room. The other shows a nude bathing hall. Which one is it? Do you get naked or not? Turns out the answer is both, in two completely different rooms, and once you know the layout it's one of the most relaxing (and cheapest) things you'll do in Korea. 🛁 Two Words That Mean Two Different Things A ëĒŠėš•íƒ• (mokyoktang) is just the bathhouse — showers, hot tubs, cold tubs, maybe a steam room. It's strictly single-gender and clothing is not allowed, full stop. A ė°œė§ˆë°Š (jjimjilbang, literally "heated room") is the bigger package: it includes a mokyoktang plus a mixed-gender common area with heated ondol floors, themed kiln saunas, sleep rooms, a snack bar, and sometimes a TV lounge.
